The Unknown Minister

Where an unknown minister thinks outloud, Lord willing, for the benefit of some.

How Will You Be Remembered?

Jehoram had a wonderful father, Jehoshaphat. We are told that, “The LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the earlier ways of his father David. He did not seek the Baals, but sought the God of his father and walked in his commandments, and not according to the practices of Israel.”1 Yet he did not follow in his fathers footsteps. He reigned for just eight years and in those eight years he undid pretty much everything his father had done. At the end of his reign, when he died, the Chronicler notes that, “He departed with no one’s regret.”2

I will not add much to these ominous words other than to ask you the question, how will people remember you? When the casket has been closed and the goodbyes finally said, will people regret that you are gone? Let me encourage you to live your life well to the glory of God; that your family, friends, and the church may lament your passing and wish for greater days when your smile still shone in their presence.
